European certificate in anthropology of social dynamics and development
The European certificate in anthropology of social dynamics and development is a bi-lingual inter-university program enabling the mobility of students and teachers between different universities. It includes one semester spent at a partner university, empirical fieldwork conducted in the South, as well as joint seminars and supervision. The program is anchored in a shared interest in the rapid transformations experienced by contemporary societies and an insistence on ethnographic research in seeking to understand complex social and political processes in ‘the South’.
The following universities participate in the certificate:
-
Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium)
-
Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium)
-
Université de Liège (Belgium)
-
Université de Provence (France)
-
Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales (France)
-
Université de Bordeaux Segalen (France)
-
Université de Paris Ouest (France)
-
Uppsala Universitet (Sweden)
-
Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD)
Master students in cultural anthropology can apply for the certificate. It is open for applications at the end of the autumn term.
So far, three Uppsala-students have successfully accomplished the Certificate: Sofia Baruffol (2010) Astrid Thews (2011), and Nina Miller (2012).
We hope Uppsala-students are ready to apply for this European track of Anthropology. The application will be assessed by the council of Coordinators of the European Certificate for the Anthropology of Social Dynamics and Development.
The application has to include the following documents:
-
Curriculum vitae
-
Proposition of student mobility
-
Thesis proposal (5 pages maximum).
Next deadline for application is 1 December 2012.
